The best place to head for is Pinon Canyon Military Reservation in Colorado, about two and a half hours south of Colorado Springs where there is a large resident herd. They are also resident near Marfa in Texas as well as between Alpine and Fort Davis.

We have seen them on the outskirts of Yellowstone National Park near Gardiner, Montana and in Custer State Park, South Dakota.
