The very best place to see a bald eagle is Alaska, especially during the salmon run (sometime around mid-October through until December) when they gather in large numbers along the Chilkat River.

If you do not want to go to Alaska, they can be seen throughout the rest of the US, mainly during the winter. We have seen eagles in Florida, e.g. on Sanibel and in the Everglades, but your best chance of seeing one is to head to the Northern Mississippi Valley, from Cairo Illinois up to St Paul in Minnesota. We have seen large numbers of Eagles along the river in Iowa around Effigy Mounds National Monument and in Dubuque.
