The best place to see a manatee in the wild is Florida during the winter when they head for warm shallow water and hot springs.

• Blue Spring State Park in Orange City (off highway 4 about halfway between Orlando and Daytona Beach)
• the Crystal River area (about an hour north of Tampa), especially Three Sisters and Homosassa Springs
• the Manatee Viewing Center at Big Bend Power Station, Apollo Beach (just south of Tampa), and
• Lee County Manatee Park at Fort Myers.
