Where to Stay Near Yellowstone Gardiner

Gardiner is a small town very close to the North Entrance of the Park. There are various hotels, B&Bs, inns and campgrounds, several restaurants, a post office, a bank and a grocery store. For access to the northern part of Yellowstone Gardiner is hard to beat. Mammoth Hot Springs is only around 5 miles away and there is good access to the northerly portion of the Great Loop Road including Roosevelt, Tower Fall and the Lamar Valley. There are also several white water rafting and kayaking outfits based in Gardiner who run trips on the Yellowstone River – see rafting under “things to do’’.

In terms of accommodation there is a really broad range. Several of the large chains have a presence here such as Super 8 Gardiner/Yellowstone Park Area and Travelodge, either of which are a good choice. Super 8 has a pool and rooms sleeping from 2 – 6. Travelodge has an onsite laundry and rooms with fridges. It also does a suite with a kitchenette.

Yellowstone Village Inn is popular for families as it has a small indoor pool and you can get adjoining rooms. It has recently been refurbished . Also great for families or large groups is the Yellowstone Gateway Inn as you can have a suite, a 1 bed or a 2 bed apartment with full kitchen.

We have stayed in both the Yellowstone River Motel and Riverside Cottages. Both have great views of the river and offer clean but very basic rooms. Riverside Cottages have rooms with several beds that is useful for families but if fully occupied the rooms may feel a little cramped. Currently these hotels have removed themselves from any online booking engines so you will need to call or e-mail them for reservations.

Livingston and Bozeman are further out from the Park along the road through Gardiner. Both have a wide range of accommodation but Gardiner is a better base for exploring the park due to its proximity.
