Yosemite Village

Much of the amenity of the Park is based in Yosemite Village.

The Valley Visitor Center is a great place to start your trip as you can obtain information about what is going on in the Park, get an up to date weather forecast and get advice from a Ranger. The Park Service runs several Ranger led walks in the valley. These tend to be physically undemanding, fun and informative. The schedule will be published in the Visitor Center. The Wilderness Center which issues permits, advice, maps, bear canisters etc is also in the Village as is the Museum which is very informative.

For those of an artistic bent there is a lot going on in Yosemite Village. The Ansel Adams Gallery runs photography courses for any aspiring landscape photographers as well as walks and classes. The Art Center runs daily workshops as well as selling art and supplies. In addition to all of this you can also check out what is going on at the Theatre.

Finally, Yosemite Village has a large shop stocking food and drinks, all manner of souvenirs and some camping and hiking gear, a Post Office, garage and a clinic. If you have any shopping needs this is definitely your best bet.
