McGurk Meadow and Dewey Point

McGurk Meadow and Dewey Point

One of the first stops along the Glacier Point road is the McGurk Meadow trailhead. This is a great place to stop and take in some scenery.

Depending on how far you want to walk you can set off from the McGurk Meadow trailhead and either stop when you reach the Meadow or carry on to Dewey Point. The Meadow is an easy 1.6 mile roundtrip from the car park and is well worth a look. It is beautiful and in the early summer is filled with wild flowers.

If you are feeling energetic you can carry on to join up with the Pohono Trail. A good stopping place is Dewey Point from which you get great views of the valley below (with far less company than at Glacier point). This option is a 7 mile roundtrip with 750ft height gain so it is not too strenuous.
