Yosemite has over 750 miles of wilderness or backcountry trail and is a very popular destination for those really wanting to get away from it all. To limit the number of people on any given trail, you will require a permit to stay overnight anywhere in the wilderness area. Demand for these outstrips supply so you will need to apply for your permit as early as possible. Please see the Park Service website for further information.
