These viewpoints are easy to access from the same trailhead & offer stunning views of Yosemite Valley.

Sentinel Dome is a granite dome overlooking Yosemite Valley. It is an easy 1.8 mile roundtrip from the car park to the top and is a fabulous walk. You get fantastic views from the summit so it is well worth the small amount of effort to get up there.

You can also access Taft Point from the same car park. This is a 2.2 mile roundtrip through the forest onto the South rim of the Valley. You get a great view of the opposite side of the Valley but what is more compelling is the view of the 2000ft deep fissures in the granite near the Point.

If I only had the time or the energy to do one of these walks I would go for Sentinel Dome but if you can manage both, Taft Point and the fissures are well worth a look.
