Grand Canyon Where to Stay

Grand Canyon Where to Stay Inside the Park

All accommodation inside the Grand Canyon National Park is run by a licensed concession and it does get booked up a long way in advance. There are a number of options available on the South Rim at Grand Canyon Village. Prices currently range from $83 per night for a room with shared bathroom to $465 per night for a hotel suite at the El Tovar.

For more information and reservations go to the Grand Canyon Lodges website.

The same organisation also manage Phantom Ranch. This consists of dormitory or cabin accommodation and it is the only accommodation in the Canyon bottom. It takes booking up to 13 months in advance and gets booked up very quickly. Meals and a duffel service (carrying your pack in / out of the Canyon) are also available.

The only other in-Park accommodation is on the North Rim where you can stay at the Grand Canyon Lodge. A variety of rooms are available, but again, these get booked up months in advance so book as far ahead as possible.

If you want to camp within the Park, you can book ahead at Mather Campground on the South Rim and at the NPS campground on the North Rim. If you want to go probably wild and camp outside a campground you will need a permit from the National Park Service.

If you are struggling for availability, or with some of the price points, there are plenty of options outside the Park. We often stay outside the Park as in our opinion you get more for your money and there is often greater availability.
