How to get to the Grand Canyon from the UK

There are several options for getting to the Grand Canyon from the UK.  The nearest international airport to the Grand Canyon with a good range of flights from the UK is Las Vegas. It is 277 miles and takes around 4 hours 15 minutes to drive from Las Vegas to Canyon Village on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

If this does not appeal, your next best option is Phoenix. This airport currently has one direct flight a day from the UK. It is 228 miles and takes around 3 hours 30 minutes to drive from Phoenix to Canyon Village.

The nearest airport to Canyon Village is Flagstaff. This is served from Phoenix so flying here will involve at least one and possibly two changes, depending on connections. It is about 80 miles from Flagstaff to Canyon Village and the drive takes around 90 minutes.

My preference is always to fly into Las Vegas and wear the additional drive time for greater choice of direct flights. Often flying in to Vegas is cheaper too. The craziness of Vegas is great for a couple of nights and is a nice addition to a trip to the Grand Canyon. The route from Vegas to the Canyon goes past the Hoover Dam, which is also well worth a stop. You can include a trip to the Grand Canyon in a road trip starting and finishing in Las Vegas, for example,  incorporating a trip to Zion National Park and Lake Powell.
