Reasons to go – Chicago Top 10 Attractions

Chicago aka ‘the Windy City’ is an amazing place and makes for a great city break either as part of a longer trip or as a destination in its own right.

Chicago has everything; remarkable architecture, a lively theatre scene, countless bars and restaurants, great music, brilliant shopping and plenty of family friendly activities.

There is a wonderful atmosphere in Chicago and if I had to spend the rest of my life in one city it would probably be here (sorry London). I think it has all that New York has to offer but in a more digestible form – it feels quite easy to get to know downtown Chicago & the suburbs are really easy to access from the downtown hotels. The streets are wide so it is easy to see the architecture and despite being a large city, Chicago has a Midwest friendliness that makes it a really easy place to be.

Chicago Top 10 Attractions

Chicago has tons of great things to see and do. Here is our pick of the best of them.

Don’t miss…

1. Go and join the crowds enjoying one of the world’s best pieces of public art, the Cloud Gate Sculpture in Grant Park.

2. Enjoy the architecture. Wander the skyscrapers and check out the amazing view from America’s tallest skyscraper, the Willis Tower.

3. Grab a drink on the top floor of the W Hotel and enjoy a great view of the skyline.

4. Take an architecture boat tour from Navy Pier and enjoy gawping at some of the skyscrapers from the river.

5. Take the train out to Oak Park and visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and enjoy some of the many other buildings he designed there.

6. Go to Wrigley Park and catch a baseball game. Unleash your inner Homer and have a beer and a hot dog.

7. Indulge your shopping needs along Michigan Avenue and snap up some bargains.

8. Head to the Art Institute and check out the American Collection. My personal favourite is Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks.
