If you’ve hit the main tourist trail already, why not try a few of our other ideas and discover New York beyond the main sites
Chinatown
The largest Chinatown outside China! A great area to explore, stock up on unusual ingredients and find your favourite dim sum restaurant.
Little Italy
If China’s not your thing, how about Italy? You’ll find amazing Italian food here as you would expect. It’s also a great place to pick up cheap souvenirs.
Brooklyn
Brooklyn is more up, than up and coming these days but there’s still an amazingly artistic and liberal feel to the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge. Dumbo (That’ll be Down Under the Manhattan Brooklyn Overpass) is full of galleries and independent shops, it’s also home to the Brooklyn flea market on Saturdays. Williamsburg is also a great place to visit, especially for foodies with a wealth of great restaurants and cafes
Soak up some jazz
Famous for its jazz scene, it’s well worth checking out some of New Yorks jazz venues. You could try Jazz at Lincoln Center, Smalls or the famous Village Vanguard in Greenwich Village, NYC has a wealth of jazz bars to discover.
Check out Big Apple Jazz Clubs for a guide to all the clubs
Catch a game
Baseball is probably the most common choice for those wanting to catch a game. Choose between the Yankees and the Mets for baseball in NYC. Alternatively you can watch American football, Basketball or Hockey as well as Ice-Hockey.
