Miami Where to Stay

When visiting Miami I personally always stay at South Beach. For me it is the centre of the action and the main reason I am in Miami so why stay anywhere else? If you are struggling to distinguish a South Beach from a Miami Beach hotel (it can be tricky) we have found that staying the in area south of 17th Street and within say 4 blocks of Collins Ave is the most convenient for walking access to the bars and restaurants, shopping, the beach and the main happenings of South Beach. We tend to avoid staying along Ocean Drive itself as it can be noisy and you pay a premium for being there.

Miami Where to Stay, We recommend…

Albion South Beach is our top recommendation, we love its convenient location and great pool. If you’re a family then go for Hilton Grand Vacations Suites at South Beach for the space and self-catering option.

Our Top Miami hotels…

1) Albion South Beach

We have stayed here several times. It is in a great location, very close to lots of amenity with a lovely pool and the King rooms are spacious. They also make rather good cocktails although this is something of a mixed blessing. I do not recommend overindulging on your last night and having to navigate your way through Miami Airport with a hangover. Not that I have personal experience of this you understand.

2) The Angler’s Boutique Resort

This is another great choice. It has some huge rooms (some with private hot tub) and a nice pool area.

3) Courtyard by Marriott – South Beach

If you are looking for a cheaper option you can’t go far wrong with Courtyard by Marriott – South Beach

It has good sized, comfortable rooms and a nice rooftop pool.

4) Hilton Grand Vacations Suites at South Beach

If you are travelling with kids and the beach access is of primary importance, check out the Hilton Grand Vacations Suites at South Beach

They offer one and two bedroom suites with separate living areas and full kitchens so you can do some level of self catering should you wish.

5) Casanova Suites on the Beach

Another good option in a similar vein at the other end of Lummus Park.

6) Loews Miami Beach Hotel

To experience a proper Florida resort hotel I would try staying here. It’s a huge property in a great location with beach access and a large pool area and has all manner of amenity. It can be very busy however and sometimes feels a little like Piccadilly Circus in the public areas and the pool can get rowdy.

7)The Tides South Beach

This a beautiful Art Deco hotel and on the beachfront, it can be a somewhat noisy and hectic for my taste. I prefer…

8) The Delano

Also a beautiful Art Deco hotel. The Delano is also beachfront but is definitely my preference as it is on the edge of South Beach and a little way from the craziness.
