Shark Valley Walking and Cycling

Shark Valley Walking and Cycling

The Everglades Shark Valley Loop Trail

You cannot drive around the 15 mile Shark Valley loop trail (which is flat and tarmac) but you can walk as much of it as you please and you can also rent bikes and cycle round.

We have rented bikes several times – it is a really fun thing to do as you get to see so much from the bikes and it can be a very peaceful way to enjoy that part of the Park. Although the cycling is easy you should ensure you take plenty of water with you as there is no water available on the trail.

All the bikes are equipped with baskets which is very handy but be warned, there is no shop selling water. If you have not brought any with you in the car the only place to buy drinks is from the vending machines. This is fine provided you have sufficient quarters / dollar bills. I am embarrassed to say we have been caught out by this more then once……..

There are also Ranger talks at the Visitor Center and short guided walks along the trail. These are normally fun and very interesting, it is a good way of getting answers to any questions you have about the Park and its inhabitants. Check out the Park service website for details.
