Miami Road Trip: South Beach & the Atlantic Coast

Miami Road Trip: South Beach & the Atlantic Coast

Miami Road Trip: South Beach, the Everglades, Kennedy Space Center (and Orlando)

All distances and times are indicative and do not include stops.

Total miles;
220 miles one way Miami to the Kennedy Space Center, additional 50 miles to Orlando

Total drive time;
at least 8 hours one way Miami to the Kennedy Space Center on Highway 1A1, 3 hours 30 minutes on the interstate. You can swap between the two to mix and match depending on your mood.

How long do I need? This is one that is quite possible to do in a week without rushing, ten days if you want to take it really slow and two weeks if you are going to incorporate a trip to Orlando.

This is a Florida road trip taking in the Atlantic Coast, where there are some great places to stay, some amazing beaches and some great people watching opportunities. We like to meander up Highway A1A from Miami, it’s much slower than the interstate but infinitely more interesting. Snorkel on the artificial reef at Boca Raton, stop off at Palm Beach to check out the ultimate in upmarket beach towns,  chill on the beach at Hutchinson Island and make for the Kennedy Space Center to get up close and personal with more rockets than you can imagine. It really is a fantastic day out. If you are very lucky you may be able to time your visit with a launch. We like to stay at Cocoa Beach on this part of the coast which is then a short drive to Orlando if you feel like doing the Disney thing.

If you want to drive on further St Augustine is well worth a visit with its impressive fort and interesting historical architecture. It is approximately 130 miles from Cocoa Beach to St Augustine and about a 2 hour drive time.

Book a package…

Sometimes you just don’t have the time or inclination to plan and book a trip independently, that’s when booking through a tour operator makes sense.

Kuoni will happily create a fly drive itinerary for you that includes Miami a trip along the Atlantic Coast of Florida and a trip to Orlando.
