For an all round good choice this hotel is hard to beat. It is well located with nice big, comfortable rooms, very comfy beds, a good level of amenity and good value for money.
The Inn at Union Square is a great choice, especially if you are looking for somewhere with more of a boutique feel to the Omni. Again, it is well located with nice airy rooms and the free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast are a nice touch.
If you are travelling in a group or with a family, the Suites at Fisherman’s Wharf are well worth a look. These are one or two bedroom apartments with full kitchen and masses of space. They are in a great location, a little unprepossessing from the outside, but clean, comfortable and very functional inside. The roof deck is a fabulous place to get a view of the Bay.
In terms of location, it does not get much better than this. The Argonaut is in a converted warehouse, over the road from Fishman’s Wharf and with views of Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge. They do an evening wine reception in the lobby which is a nice touch and the rooms are pleasant and well appointed.
If you are watching the pennies, Hotel Stratford is our pick of the options at the lower end of the price scale. It is in a fantastic location, right by Union Square and near a cable car and a BART (public transport) stop. Rooms are relatively small but clean, there is free wi-fi and a complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby.
