Much of America is hot and humid during the summer and the usual beach favourite of Florida is at hurricane risk.  Although a direct hit might be unlikely it’s not out of the question, and anyway, why risk ruining your holiday with overcast skies and heavier than average rainfall?

New England offers a great alternative.  You can make like successive American presidents and head for Martha’s Vineyard, or resorts such as Nantucket or Cape Cod.  Maine has some particularly beautiful coastline with beaches at the southern end of the state and a more wild and rocky aspect as you head north. Up towards the Canadian border Acadia National Park in Maine is a fabulous summer destination.

Go independent…

British Airways offer direct flights from the UK to Boston up to 28 times per week so you’re sure to find a flight time that suits you.  You can be in Boston in around 7 hours from Heathrow.

Virgin Atlantic also operate direct flights from the UK to Boston.   We love them for the great on board entertainment systems and family friendly approach.

If neither of these options appeal we like Skyscanner for a good listing of all the operators  running flights.
