Inspiration – Florida

Without the searing heat and humidity of summer or the very real hurricane risk of late summer and Autumn, both Winter and Spring are great times to visit Florida.  The weather is almost always sunny (it’s not known as the Sunshine state for nothing) and the temperature, a very pleasant average of 25°C in February in Miami.  What better way to escape the grey gloom of a British Winter?

Read our guide to Miami, or click here to read our ideas for Florida road trips.  We’ve also got some great ideas for Florida beach breaks as well as other beach breaks in the USA.

Go independent…

British Airways fly to Miami, Tampa and Orlando daily. Flights take around 9 hours so in no time at all you could be basking in the Florida sunshine.

Virgin Atlantic also operate direct flights from the UK to Miami and Orlando.   We love them for the great on board entertainment systems and family friendly approach.

If neither of these options appeal we like Skyscanner  for a good listing of all the operators running flights.

Book a package…

Sometimes you just don’t have the time or inclination to plan and book a trip independently, that’s when booking through a tour operator makes sense.

If you want to take the work out of booking your holiday then we like Hayes & Jarvis. They have a wealth of experience in holidays to North America and can offer some great Florida options for holidays including trips to some of our favourites: SanibelKey West and Clearwater Beach, all of which can be personalised to suit you.

Kuoni will tailor make you a fly drive tour or a multi-centre holiday that allows you to take in the Everglades and anywhere else in Florida that takes your fancy. They have a great selection of hotels and holiday homes with easy access to the Everglades in Miami, Marco Island and Naples. You could combine this with a visit to the Florida Keys and one of the resorts along the Gulf Coast such as the fabulous Sanibel and Captiva Islands or St Pete’s Beach. Kuoni will also book a package including any of the Florida theme parks. Click below to visit their website.
