Las Vegas Best Time to Visit

Weather

The best time to visit Las Vegas for nice weather is in the spring or the autumn. The weather is at it’s most pleasant from March through until June and September until early November, with highs normally averaging in the low to mid 20s.

Vegas winters mild in comparison to the UK, often with highs in the mid to high teens. However it can get cold, especially at night when it does hot can hit freezing. If you do decide on a winter visit, take plenty of layers and a warm jacket.

The summer are very, very hot. Daytime highs average in the high 30s and often get into the 40s. Nights are also warm with the temperature rarely dropping below the mid twenties. This does not rule out a Vegas visit in the summer as the casinos are designed to keep you inside and are always maintained at a very pleasant temperature. However, if you do step outside the heat will hit you like a brick.

You are in the desert so it is unlikely you will get rained on, but not impossible. I tend not to bother pack a waterproof unless I am headed out to Zion or somewhere to go hiking.

Best Room Rates

Las Vegas is a massive convention town. When the really big conventions are on, the hotels fill up and consequently the prices rise. Events like the Consumer Electronics Show in early January draw more than 150,00 people so you can see why this would have an impact. When you are planning your trip it is worth seeing what conventions are on and trying to plan around them to get cheaper rooms. Las Vegas online carries a good list.

Las Vegas is also a popular destination for people looking for a weekend or a long weekend break. You can often get cheaper rooms if you can time your visit to avoid weekends and major American holidays. Valentines day is also a good time to avoid as lots of people come into town to get married – that is unless you have similar plans yourself.
