Glacier Point

Glacier Point

Glacier Point

The final stop along the Glacier Point road is Glacier Point.

The views from Glacier Point are truly spectacular – go! Take your camera. You can see the whole valley 3,000 ft beneath you as well as Vernal and Nevada Falls and Half Dome and the High Sierra stretching off into the distance. I can’t describe how beautiful it is and the picture above does not even begin to do the Glacier Point view justice.

If you are so minded it is possible to hike down from Glacier Point back into the Valley. There are three different routes down, the slightly misnamed Four Mile Trail (4.8 miles), the Panorama Trail (8.3 miles) and the Pohono Trail (12.9 miles). Given that you have 3,200ft to lose all of them involve a lot of downhill! All the distances are one way; you will need to get a one way ticket on the Glacier Point bus tour out of the Valley and then hike back down.
