The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

This is an incredibly deep, multi-coloured canyon formed by the Yellowstone River which hurtles over 2 sets of waterfalls as it descends into the Canyon. You can access both sides of the Canyon, the north and the south rim and the wonderful viewpoints at Artist’s Point and Inspiration Point.

Steep steps on Uncle Tom's Trail, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Uncle Tom’s Trail

It is well worth taking the time to follow the road on both the north and the south rim, accessing all the point you can stop along the way. Whether you are a hiker or not, you will miss out on some fabulous views if you do not walk the short trails to access the falls including the steep decent to the Brink of the Lower Falls on the North Rim and the shorter but steeper (328 steps) Uncle Tom’s Trail on the South Rim. If you walk a short way along either of the rim trails you will also leave the crows behind and get to enjoy the view in peace and quiet.
